Hopeworks News: July
2004
Hopeworks LeadershipTrip To Colorado
Trainees and staff in Colorado for leadership training.
On June 25th, our staff and trainees spent five days of their
life together on a mountain climbing adventure. From the peaks
of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, they learned the importance
of leadership, teamwork, and persistence. The group seized the
opportunity to experience the responsibility of being leaders,
learning new ways to encourage each other through the 11 hour
hikes, the rock climbing and peak ascents. Trainees grew in
their awareness to view themselves as role models. This summer's
trainee leaders were chosen based on their ability to train
others, their expertise in a particular training, and most importantly,
their desire to share their passion for learning. Thanks to
everyone who has supported us and especially those of you who
financially helped make this trip possible! We are off to a
great summer! Click

33 Youth Hired To Work This Summer
Hopeworks has hired 28 youth this summer to do various jobs.
Two
groups of youth are doing GIS survey work throughout the city
of Camden. Another group of youth are conducting research interviews
in local neighborhoods, while another group is teaching website
design/development to 15 youth. Our summer work program provides
an excellent opportunity for youth to enhance their skills and
keep busy during the summer. Besides learning the importance
of being on time, our youth are also gaining responsibility
for valuable equipment, growth in personal discipline and integrity.
Hats off to all of our youth workers! Click
