Youth
Leadership on the move!
A
group of 9 youth leaders have been meeting to plan the upcoming
summer. The leadership meetings have included team building, role
playing, and group activities. The youth have just finished designing
and making a flag to take with them to Colorado. While in Colorado,
youth, along with 4 Hopeworks staff members, will participate in
team and leadership building experiences. A highlight of the trip
will be a 5 day hiking trip into the Rocky Mountains. All of what
the group will need to survive will be packed in with them!
2004 Summer Plans: Excitement

PAGIS
Conference
On May 11th, Hopeworks participated in the PAGIS conference held
in Harrisburg, PA. Manthu Tekhna along with Josh Rivera and Yesenia
Nieves(Hopeworks youth) delivered a presentation about the Hopeworks
GIS program.
HP Grant
Hopeworks
has been awarded a $45,500 equipment grant from Hewlett Packard.
Hopeworks was one of only 47 grantees in the entire country. This
grant will allow Hopeworks to update our internal computer network,
add an additional server and begin to deploy HP Tablets. We are
most excited to continue to provide our youth with cutting edge
technology and want to thank HP for their support!
Hopeworks
Social
The second of three Hopeworks
socials was held on May 21st at the home of George and Janet Hutchinson.
Hopeworks is grateful to the Hutchinson's for opening their home
to friends and guests. Noel
Hernandez, Jamaal Johnson and Ed Figueroa talked about their
experiences at Hopeworks. It was a great evening of friend making!

Hope Through School Summer Program
On July 5th Hopeworks opens its door to our summer
program. The program will run daily from 4:00PM to 6:30PM.
Youth are invited to participate in our program where they
will be introduced to Website Training. Those who complete
the program will be encouraged to stay in the fall and be
a part of the advanced program where they can learn more and
earn some money.
As of June 1, 2004, Hopeworks had paid a total of $55,930
dollars in youth salaries for the past fiscal year. Thanks
to all of our clients, grantors and benefactors who have helped
so many youth earn so much!
Next
month, when Hopeworks heads to Colorado, Regis University
will be one of our stops. Regis has generously made available
dorm rooms and a campus tour for our youth. Thanks Regis!
Kathleen Deitch and Father Jeff presented at the JJDP Showcase
in East Windsor, NJ.
The Hopeworks website now has a number of streaming videos
describing our program. Check
them out.
Hopeworks has now implemented donations via credit card! You
can now support Hopeworks while taking advantage of affinity
credit cards to earn miles, points, etc. Click
here to donate.
Noel
Hernandez has successfully completed his production test and
entered production! Besides passing the production test, Noel
also had to produce his own personal website. You can see
Noel's website at www.hopeworksyouth.org.
Noel focused his site on Plato's Symposium. It is a must view
for all philosophers!
Many thanks to Joseph Barton and PSE&G who have graciously
arranged to provide Hopeworks with safety vests for our summer
programs. We
anticipate having close to 20 youth in the field this summer
and these vests will be invaluable. Thanks!
Web Production is pleased to welcome
Angel Rodriguez, Patrice Williams and Jamaal Johnson. Angel,
Patrice and Jamaal are currently members of the Hope Through
School Advanced Web Group. This summer they will split their
time at Hopeworks between training other youth in the Hope
Through School Program and working on client projects in Web
Production.
