Hopeworks
College Bound (HCB)
Through
a joint partnership with the Juvenile
Justice Commission of NJ, Hopeworks has created an innovative
program to help JJC youth without a high school degree attend college.
HCB
is designed for youth who want to go to college but have dropped
out of high school. Hopeworks has combined our training curriculum
with an educational component that allows youth to enter college
through the "Ability to Benefit Program."
The
JJC will be using HCB as part of their aftercare program for youth
recently released from the Juvenile Justice Commission. Click
here to find out more about the program.
Youth

13
Hopeworks youth accompanied by Father Jeff, Matt Grove and Manny
Acuna, headed to San Antonio to present the outcome of our summer
long tree surveying project of the City of Camden. This project
was conducted in conjunction with the NJ
Tree Foundation and the Housing
Authority of the City of Camden. With the collected information,
it has been possible to produce reports on pollution, energy savings
and other pertinent issues. To
see a sampling of these reports click here. The trip was made
possible through a generous grant from the United
States Forestry Service in conjunction with American
Forests. Read the article about Hopeworks in the American Forests

Veritas
and Hopeworks offer Training
With
help from Veritas, the world's
leading data disaster recovery company, Hopeworks offered a community
training to local Camden groups. Over 12 different groups
received valuable information on backup skills and disaster recovery.
Hopeworks has already helped 3 groups implement their backup plans.
Thanks
also to Veritas for arranging to visit the Philadelphia Stock Exchange
and the Philadelphia News. At both locations, over 20 youth
were able to experience first hand a modern data center and to witness
the various ways that data is secured.
