Hopeworks Hires 20 youth for summer jobs
In GIS, Web, and Hope Through School, 20 youth have been employed.  15 youth have also entered training in Hope Through School.  Here are some of the things going on this summer:
• GIS youth are working on a tree survey of North Camden, funded through a grant from the EPA and Daniellie Foundation
• Youth in Web production continue to work on client projects as well as design a summer program page for the Hopeworks web site

Hope Through School youth are working on web training, typing and word processing skills.  Every day they make their points they are then eligible to be entered into the weekly rafffle- last week Maveth Jimenez won two tickets to the movies!
All youth attend Literacy to improve their math, reading, and writing skills and to prepare themselves for the upcoming school year
• Each youth also attends Formation, where they are working toward creating a personal vision.  Through weekly meetings, they set goals for themselves, and action plans on how to attain these goals.  Good things happening here at Hopeworks this summer!

Hopeworks goes to the Mets Game and meets Jon Stewart
Thanks to the generosity of Judge Maryanne Trump-Barry, Father Jeff, Tarren Anderson, Mario Arriola and Ed Figueroa attended a Mets game.  The highlight of the trip (besides the Mets winning) was that Father Jeff and Ed met Jon Stewart and it is reported that Mr. Stewart asked Father Jeff for some new material for the Daily Show! Stay tuned!

New Video Program Beginning at Hopeworks
A team from Hopeworks is joining with youth from Washington DC to use digital cameras and camcorders to capture the spirit of CTC Net at this year's convention.  Staff members Sean Dougherety and Ed Figueroa will work with Dallion Wiggins, Sabrina Gomez, Charlie Gillard, Shakira McDonald and Steven Barrientos to put together several short videos including one that will be shown to the entire convention at the closing luncheon.  Video training has started this week to prepare the Hopeworks crew for their assignment.  It should be a great experience for everyone involved!
