The Summer of 2007 at Hopeworks is shaping up to be one of the busiest ever. Check out some of what is going on at 543 State St. starting in July!
Web Production continues to roll along with our production trainees working on sites for Our Lady of Good Council Parish in Moorestown, NJ and the Camden Diocese. Two of our trainees, Lilly Roman and Mario Arriola are also taking summer classes at Camden County College.
The GIS Team will be hiring 10 youth for summer jobs starting in July! They will be working on projects ranging from a survey and map of historic Harleigh Cemetery (where the poet Walt Whitman is buried) to a beautiful map of Camden that will be available for sponsorship and sold to the public. Look for more details in the weeks to come!
Our Summer Hope Through School program is packed with interesting and challenging opportunities for youth. While trainees will be learning the basics of how to build professional web sites, they also will be busy in Literacy learning math skills while planning a virtual vacation; working on their writing skills while creating a short film in our Digital StoryTelling program and then researching, planning and implementing a service learning project in North Camden.
August 22 and 23 has already been reserved for Symantec Days here at Hopeworks. During these 2 days employees from Symantec Corporation volunteer to help organize and participate in a variety of fun learning events with everyone at Hopeworks.
As the summer rolls along we’ll have more news on youth jobs, internships, trips and more. Keep in mind that none of this could be possible without the support of our grantors and our donors. “Thanks!” |
