About
the Hopeworks Trainee
There are two different types
of Hopeworks trainees: those in the day training program and those
in the after-school programs. You could be matched with any one of these trainees.
The Day Trainees spend six hours per day at Hopeworks learning how
to build web pages. Once a trainee finishes the basic curriculum,
they work on their own personal website. After they complete their
website and a production test which includes some additional training, they have the option of moving
to the production team, where they earn a stipend and work on real
client websites.
Hopeworks Day Training
Program includes Hopeworks College Bound. Hopeworks College Bound combines the Hopeworks
curriculum with academic assistance from our Literacy Director. The
program helps youth enter college, receive financial aid, and receive
their high school diploma if they did not have one.
Hopeworks after-school
program, Hope Through School, has the same curriculum
as the day training program but is for youth who are in high school.
These trainees have the opportunity for an after-school job in Advanced Production once
they finish the basic web training.
The youth in Advanced Production work on various projects that use Web technology and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology.
There are two other Hopeworks
programs in which the youth may be involved: Hopeworks Video and
Hopeworks Hardware. Trainees in Hopeworks Video learn how to edit
and create short movies. In Hopeworks Hardware, trainees learn
about computer hardware and build their own computer at the end
of training.
Each youth is assigned an online mentor to walk with them during their time here at Hopeworks. There is always a need for mentors. Consider joining the Hopeworks Mentoring Program. Click on the links below for more information.
