Mentoring FAQ
I
am new to mentoring or I am not familiar with the
exact needs of the trainees, how will I know what
to do?
Hopeworks
will provide you with a schedule of suggested topics
for the first 16 weeks. In addition, you will be
initially provided the trainee's own personal plan
and updates each week to help you. Finally the Hopeworks
Formation Director will be available if at any time
you need additional help or suggestions.
I
would like to be a mentor, but I have never worked
in the Information Technology sector. Can I still
be a mentor?
Yes.
Hopeworks is looking for mentors that have professional
and academic experience. It is not important that
you have experience directly in the Information Technology
sector only that you want to encourage the Hopeworks'
trainees.
What
does e-mentoring mean?
E-mentoring
(sometimes referred to as telementoring) is done
via electronic means. In the case of the Hopeworks
mentoring program, it will be done via email and
the internet. This allows anyone from anywhere in
the world to be a mentor for a Hopeworks trainee.
I
live far from Hopeworks. Would I still be able to
be a mentor?
Yes.
Since, Hopeworks is planning on doing an e-mentoring
program, all you would need is access to the internet
and email.
How
much time commitment would I have to make?
You
would need to spend approximately 30-60 minutes per
week.
