| Mentoring Guidelines
A mentor is an adult who establishes
a personal relationship with a Hopeworks trainee by email
communication. A mentor must be a good listener and must be
able to adjust to the trainee's needs. Mentors must be supportive
and be able to help trainees resolve personal problems or
issues that arise that may get in the way of the young person's
goals in life. Mentors will play many roles, such as friend,
counselor, motivator, and role model. As a mentor, you will
receive a short bio of the trainee as well as the trainee's
Personal Development Plan (PDP) from the Hopeworks Formation
director. Along with the Formation Director, the mentor will
help a young person develop social, communication, and business
skills they need to live up to his or her potential.
How
do you become a Hopeworks Mentor?
Contact the formation director (mentoring@hopeworks.org)
if you are interested in becoming a mentor. Also, take a moment
to fill out a brief survey on mentoring.
