Hopeworks News: May 2002
Off to College!
Hopeworks had 5 youth begin college during the spring semester at Camden County College.
All five are doing well and are in the process of registering for fall
classes! We will also have another three youth who will be starting their college careers this
summer!
Congratulations to: Marcus, Rolando, Wilfredo, Laverne, and James!
You are Hope at work!
College Credits Available:
Through a creative agreement between Camden County College and Hopeworks, our trainees
can now earn up to 15 hours of college credit
for various stages of the Hopeworks training.
Upon successfully completing the various stages of training, Hopeworks issues a transcript to Camden
County College and the course work is recorded in the student's record.
A number of our high school students will also be earning credit and will be
able to use this in their future educational endeavors!
Healings!!
As anyone knows who works at a computer--fingers, backs and arms get tired
quickly. We have been blessed during the last few months with the presence of
Camden Wellness.
Every few weeks, Camden Wellness provides chair massage and/or foot
reflexology to our trainees and staff. Though a new experience
at first for many, the sign up list is now packed on Fridays!
We have even noticed an increase in visitors on those days when
Healing Touch is here!! Click here to

Odds & Ends:
James Jones continues his work on the City of Camden web site.
Ed Figueroa is finishing up a large GIS project for a new client.
Ed has directed a team of four youth in this endeavor. Ed, who will
be junior next year, has
been named as our GIS Summer Project Leader. On the team with Ed
will be both Adrian and Manny. They will help coordinate a summer project in which a
total of 12 youth create a digital parcel map of Camden City and collect over 20
current neighborhood data layers.
Congratulations to Dilson Caba and Javier Colon who have been named to be team leaders to the Hope
Through School summer program.
Congratulations to Jose Nunez,
Monica Cruz,
Rosibel Colomer, and Frank Castillo who have all successfully completed
their personal web sites
and have entered production!
