Backup Workshop
a Success

Hopeworks and Veritas sponsored a FREE
community technology training in September to help local
organizations learn the importance of backing up data, and develop a
personalized backup plan for their organization. Eight different local organizations
came together for the morning training. Each left the workshop with a personally tailored backup strategy for their organization.
That afternoon and the following day, 15 Hopeworks youth
gathered for a more extensive and hands-on training. Making
use of tape libraries, zip disks and network backup programs, youth
learned various methods of backup. The highlight of the
day was a "backup scavenger hunt" in which youth had to master 7
unique backup skills. Winners participated in a raffle for a Lexar
Translucent Memory Stick and other prizes.
Thanks to the many Veritas employees who generously made this
training possible!
HopeworksHardware has Begun
In partnership with Camden Computers
Incorporated, HopeworksHardware has begun. HopeworksHardware is an
innovative training program which seeks to teach
youth the basics of computer repair and system maintenance. Trainees participate in a 10 week session to learn hardware and networking skills.
Open House

On August 15th, Mayor
Faison, former Governor Florio and Council President Fuentes attended an open house at Hopeworks and recognized the youth for their achievements. We also celebrated our new business partnership with XSPAND, Inc.
