Camden nonprofit will use equipment to upgrade its online operations.
(CAMDEN, NJ) – Hopeworks ‘N Camden, a nonprofit youth training and development organization, has announced that it has received a major donation from Natural Lands Trust in Delaware County. The non-profit land conservation organization recently donated two Dell PowerEdge servers and 2 Power Connect 24-port network switches.
“We are grateful for this much-needed computer equipment, which will allow us to upgrade and expand our GIS mapping system which is critical to our business and training,” said Father Jeff Putthoff, executive director of Hopeworks. “As a nonprofit, our resources often are limited, so the help of organizations such as Natural Lands Trust is vital to our success.”
Based in Media, Pa., Natural Lands Trust is the region’s largest and most comprehensive conservation organization. Its mission is to protect the forests, fields, wetlands and streams that are essential to the sustainability and quality of life in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
“We are very pleased to be able to support Hopeworks ‘N Camden,” said Molly Morrison, president of Natural Lands Trust, noting that the servers had been running the organization’s GIS mapping software. “Mapping technology has transformed the work of land conservation in recent years and it is gratifying to know that our former mapping equipment might help to transform the life of a Hopeworks trainee.”
Founded in 2000 by three local churches, Hopeworks is a nonprofit organization designed to empower inner-city Camden youth by offering learning opportunities, enhancing their self-esteem through real-world jobs, and teaching them to be successful and self-sufficient.
